After-School Programs for Grades 3 to 5
I’ve been doing magic classes at after-school Enrichment Programs since 1992 and I have to tell you, boys and girls love this class!
Not only do they learn how to fool their family and friends with real magic, they learn about theater arts, performing, and storytelling in the process.
It’s flexible to fit your schedule and I can easily include grades 2 to 6.
A lot of schools run a six week (or more) after-school enrichment program in the fall, winter, and spring, while others simply do one session each year.
To fit that schedule, I developed three programs that can run back to back (all different material each session) or independently (because there are always new students in each class anyway.) That means I have plenty of material in case you are doing an eight or ten week session.
Here’s what I offer for after-school enrichment programs…
– Magical Mysteries I –
This kicks off our series of magic classes for grades 3 through 5 (2-6 works, too.)
Here I teach students how to fool family and friends with cards, coins, ropes, and more.
Sleight of hand! Mind reading! Doing the impossible!
Each class features an assortment of the best in easy to do magic. Students are supplied with all special materials, many unique and of my own design, along with the Secret Sheet!
They can do it all, but only after taking The Oath of Secrecy!
– Magical Mysteries II –
Continuing our series (I get a lot of repeat students!) we learn new ways to read minds, predict the future, and generally amaze people with the wonder of magic.
That’s right, all new tricks for back-to-back sessions!
As I do in Magical Mysteries I, I supply unusual magic props, as well as everyday items, to make the magic fun and memorable.
Students are encouraged to use their imaginations to create their own stories to bring the tricks to life.
– Magical Mysteries III –
Cool Science and Weird Magic
Now we add a twist by introducing the Magic of Science. Each class features an interesting science topic as well as an unusual magic topic. Here we explore things like:
- Static electricity (Will your hair really stand on end?)
- The Magic of Magnets (Yes, everyone gets magnets to keep!)
- Optical illusions (Do you really see what you think you do?)
- Secret codes (Which only you and your friends can read!)
- The Lie Detector and your Electric Body (Can you fool the machine?)
The final class varies with the season. Either The Power of Light (Lenses and Mirrors and Light, Oh My!) or Your Backyard Planetarium (Star Finding and Star Gazing.)
In addition, each class features an unusual magic related trick or topic like: Palm Reading Fun, the VooDoo Hand Trick, the Mystic Pendulum, the Human Magnet, and Lucky Numbers & Magic Squares.
Tricks that are both strange and cool. Here, they learn the science, and truth, behind them.
Once again, all materials are supplied and they each go home with a sheet describing the topic, and trick, of the day.
– Call Early to Reserve Your Session –
I have to be honest, my availability for these classes is very limited. Since I have shows every Saturday and Sunday, I need to keep two days open during the week. With only five after-school hours available each week, that means I can only help three schools each session.
If you’d like to reserve one of those times, please contact me early.
While a last minute call is always worth a try (some schools run too many programs and have to drop classes with too few sign-ups,) most schools set these up months ahead.
I usually do one school three times, then we take a break for a year or two to let our younger friends grow up. This allows me to help the other schools on my waiting list.
– I’m Flexible to Meet Your Needs –
Please note that I can always do a single workshop for a class (maybe to top off a discussion on magic or history) or several same-day workshops for each class in a grade.
I can also present a program that includes younger students (K and 1st graders.) too. Tell me what you need and I’ll see if I can make it happen.
I enjoy going to new schools and I’d love to come to your school, too! Please contact me to discuss how I can help your programs.
